Responsible for maintenance and administration of 120+ Unix and PC servers and workstations. Implemented numerous OS and software installations on a wide range of hardware. Maintained the Ohio Lab backup system, worked with vendors to maintain yearly hardware and support contracts, and provided end-user support to local and national users.

  • Created and maintained a “How To” library that served as a reference for company administrators – this reference allowed administrators to find a quick solution and save numerous hours of research.
  • Provided emergency support for virus containment within Hyperion Ohio. The virus epidemic was contained within seven hours with no loss of data to users.
  • Maintained a 99% on-time completion rate for company TARs (Technical Assistant Requests).
  • Installed and maintained Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems, including dual and triple boot systems, XP/2000/NT/98 workstation and 2003/2000/NT server. Reduced need for new equipment.
  • Installed and maintained the Foreign Language Lab which housed MS 2000/NT/98 workstations in French, Greek, Hebrew, Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. Difficult task completed.

Responsible for design, development and implementation of new SQR report writer features running against Oracle, Sybase, Ingres, Informix and DB2 databases on UNIX and Windows operating systems.

  • Ported SQR to multiple platforms and database management systems including SYBASE and ORACLE on SUN, HP, NCR, IBM RS6000, Sequent, TI, CDC and DEC VAX machines – modified make files and rewrote UNIX shell scripts.
  • Modified and maintained SQR quality assurance test suite – debugged and enhanced automated UNIX scripts for testing, including adapting SQR test code, enhancing difference drivers, and creating databases for test environments.
  • Designed and developed several key database tools including Sybase’s SQR and SQL Solution’s DBA Companion product suite. Work included high-level design, detail design, coding and testing, maintaining code (bug fixes) and customer technical support.
  • Developed and presented DBA Companion training course. Created course presentation, instructor notes, student database and lab work. Trained Fortune 500 companies in US and Canada.

Responsible for design, development, and implementation of an EIS demo system under the Automated Management System (AMS) contract. This provided Executive Information System capability to Air Force System Command (AFSC) senior staff officers. System was developed using ORACLE and HOLOS on a VAX system. Major features included graphics and drill down capability with real-time access to database.

  • Recipient of a TRW Fellowship Award.

Task Order Manager        1986 –1987

Responsible for the Contractor Data Management System (CDMS) training task, including creation of student slides, instructor notes, labs and student database. Development tasks included SQL*Builder screens, SQL scripts, Pro*Cobol programs and Oracle forms.

  • Performed cost and schedule for labor on task. Provided follow-up, on-site customer support.
